Description
Fabricator Welder – Mig / Tig
Fabricator welders will lay out and fabricate metal assemblies and weldments, ranging from flanges to large structural steelwork.
Duties:
- MiG welding mild steel between 2mm and 20mm into a wide range of structures, producing strong, clean welds And/or
- TiG Welding Stainless Steel between 2mm and 5mm into a wide range of structures, producing strong, clean welds suitable for machinery to be used in the food industry
- Reading engineering drawings
- Using appropriate PPE
- Reading, understanding and implementing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Checking dimensions and thicknesses
- Reworking and/or repairing welded parts and products according to engineering specification changes
- Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment
- Assembling and dismantling metal structures
- Cutting and grinding metal
- Cleaning tools, equipment and work areas
Necessary Skills and Competencies:
- Fabricator welder apprenticeship or equivalent
- Experience of MiG and/or TiG Welding
- Experience of use of lifting equipment
- Manual handling training
- Able to read engineering drawings
- Proactive approach to safety
- Use of hand tools
Desirable Skills & Experience
- TiG welding experience
- MiG welding experience
- Flux core welding experience
- FLT licence Crane/sling Licence
Hours of work Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00 Friday 08:00 - 16:00
Overtime is paid after 39 hours worked.
Monday to Friday overtime is paid at time and a third, Saturday until lunchtime is time and half other hours are paid at double time.
