Our client is looking to recruit a permanent Safety and Environmental Manager to join their SQE department based in Biggleswade . The role will play a crucial part in driving success through promoting safe and environmental working practices predominately within the Workshop whilst ensuring outstanding customer service at all times.
Your Responsibilities:
- To promote effective and safe practices and controls throughout the engineering workshop and yard operations at the Biggleswade site
- Work to ensure continual improvements with management systems and processes and promote good practice
- Assist to develop Safe Systems of Work in all areas
- Support in carrying out accident investigations
- Ensure work equipment is compliant and fit for purpose
- Manage the control of contractors on site – ensuring RAMS and PTW are reviewed and completed by the relevant departments.
- Provide guidance on hazard identification and ensure Risk Assessments are completed and effective
- To be at the forefront of all environmental good practice
- Support the business to achieve its environmental objectives
- Carry out company inductions and safety training as required
- Assist and advice safety and environmental champions/safety committees
- Co-ordinate and conduct structured operational management audits and inspections.
- Conduct safety & environmental site audits and develop subsequent improvement plans
The successful candidate will require the following:
- Formal safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) or working towards
- Good communicator at all levels
- Flexible approach to work
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Confident working in an engineering high risk environment
Benefits:
20 days holiday per annum (holiday year runs Jan to Dec), plus 3 days given by the Company to cover the Christmas shutdown period and statutory/bank holidays. Company pension scheme, the employee is asked to contribute a minimum of 3.15% gross pay and the company will contribute 4.85%; once an individual joins the pension scheme they will also become entitled to life cover, group income protection and critical illness cover.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
