Due to continued growth and development, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Assistant, whether you’re a recent graduate or have existing experience, to join a growing civil engineering and infrastructure team supporting major UK housing developers.
You’ll report to the Senior Project Manager and work as part of a supportive project team. This position is well suited to someone looking to start a career in the civil engineering or residential development industries—whether a recent graduate or someone with existing experience—within a friendly, supportive SME environment.
You will work on infrastructure-related projects for some of the UK’s largest and most successful housing developers, gaining hands-on experience in technical inspections, project management processes, and client liaison.
Internal training will be provided to develop your technical knowledge and project management skills, supported by access to proven project delivery systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Report to and assist the senior/ project manager in the day-to-day running of elements of the projects
- Assist the project team with technical inspections and fieldwork, including sewer, highway, and open space asset inspections in accordance with approved schemes and specifications.
- Maintain accurate, auditable records and support project administration.
- Liaise with project stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to meet project objectives.
- Assist in preparing contract work lists, obtaining contractor quotations, and supporting tender processes.
- Support monitoring of site progress and ensure compliance with health, safety, and CDM regulations.
- Attend internal and external meetings and assist with preparing project progress reports.
Requirements:
- A full UK driving licence ( essential)
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Any previous experience with CAD, surveying, or fieldwork is advantageous
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a desire to develop technical and project management skills
- A degree in a relevant discipline – Civil Engineering, Construction, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field will be considered
- Qualifications or experience within a civil engineering background is advantageous, but not essential.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (½ hour lunch break)
