Description

We have a vacancy for a Welder/Production Operative to join our client in Bedford. This is a permanent full-time role working mainly with stainless steel, in the production team. The key part of this role will be TIG Welding. You will also assist in other manufacturing processes as required and training can be provided.

This role requires a reliable, self-disciplined person who is able to achieve the targets set to meet customer demands on time and in full. You must be conversant with workshop health and safety practices and adhere to these at all times.

Working hours : 39 hours per week, 7am - 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am -12 noon on Fridays

Core Purpose

  • Work with the Production Team to produce products to expected standards of quality, on time and in full, in order to meet business requirements.
  • Achieve team targets whilst maintaining health and safety.
  • Fabricate and weld a range of standard and bespoke products.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Completion of daily checks, ensuring all equipment is properly set up, no defects, missing parts, etc. and the correct PPE is worn.
  • Working with various materials including stainless steel and aluminium and varying thickness from 0.9mm to 5.0mm.
  • Ensuring all jobs are completed in a timely manner whilst adhering to health and safety requirements.
  • Ensuring a clean and tidy work area is maintained.
  • Produce products to the expected standard and achieve quality checks.
  • Ensure PAS99 and ISO rules and regulations are adhered to.
  • Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Accountable for own effort, motivation, and contribution.

Skills, Experience, Behaviours & Attributes

  • Fabrication and TIG welding skill (essential).
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually using initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read drawings.
  • Happy to work in a welding bay
