Description
Our client is looking for a Sheet Metal Production Controller / Planner/ Supervisor. As a key member of the Senior Team, this role works closely with the Supply Chain Coordinator, Head of Design, Manufacturing Design Technician, and Metal Shop Supervisor to ensure smooth collaboration across departments. The goal is to deliver high-quality, manufacturable, and on-time acoustic housing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong sheet metal background, preferably progressing from the shop floor, and will lead production planning, manufacturability checks, scheduling, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Own and maintain the overall Production Plan, ensuring alignment with Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Assembly.
- Utilise Excel, SAGE MRP, and project management tools (Monday.com – TBC) to schedule workloads and monitor delivery milestones.
- Balance in-house and 3rd party sheet metal processing workflows
Design-to-Manufacture Integration
- Ensure 3D CAD designs are converted into manufacturable outputs via RADAN with the support of the Manufacturing Design Technician.
- Liaise with the Head of Design to ensure manufacturability is embedded into all design deliverables.
- Provide guidance on efficient production methods and sequencing.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the central link between the Supply Chain Coordinator, Head of Design, Manufacturing Design Technician, and Metal Shop Supervisor.
- Communicate production requirements, risks, and updates clearly across all departments.
- Champion problem-solving and solution-focused culture, ensuring obstacles are resolved quickly and effectively.
Supply Chain & Purchasing Integration
- Liaise with the Supply Chain Coordinator to ensure material availability aligns with the Production Plan.
- Work in conjunction with Company Secretary overseeing MRP and purchasing operations within SAGE, helping evolve the system toward bespoke MRP solutions.
Operational Efficiency & Performance
- Monitor shop floor progress in collaboration with the Metal Shop Supervisor.
- Drive continuous improvement in production processes, scrap reduction, and throughput efficiency.
- Support QA/QC processes across production activities.
Key Skills & Experience
- Solid background in sheet metal manufacturing (ideally progressed from shop floor to management/planning).
- Strong experience in production planning and coordination.
- Proficiency in RADAN and ability to work with 3D CAD models.
- Experienced with SAGE MRP systems and confident with Excel/planning tools.
- Strong communicator with proven cross-departmental leadership skills.
- Commercial awareness and client-facing confidence.
